Exploration

Overview

Exploration at Austral Gold is a fundamental platform for value creation. Austral Gold has formed a technical team with deep knowledge and understanding of the genesis and mineralisation control on precious metal epithermal deposit formation. Through its land holdings in prolific epithermal regions in San Juan and Santa Cruz, Argentina, and the relatively under explored Paleocene gold belt in Chile near Antofagasta, Austral is aiming to discover new ore bodies, identify new opportunities and drive the growth of the company. The fundamental tools of success are;

  • Technical knowledge of ore body formation, coupled with experience in region and deposit type.
  • Expertise in greenfield exploration using innovative exploration techniques
  • Creating predictive models from operations and applying these to brownfield and greenfield exploration strategies

Austral’s goals for exploration are becoming a leader in innovative exploration and discovery, maximising exploration success cost effectively, including new discoveries and adding additional resources to existing operations. With a successful track record the potential for further growth is considerable.

Austral Gold has an attractive exploration portfolio in Chile and Argentina with near-term and longer-term opportunities available.

Significant brownfield opportunities exist in the area around the producing Guanaco and Amancaya mines. In Argentina, the advanced Pingüino Silver-Gold-Lead-Zinc project in Santa Cruz presents further exploration and development opportunities.

Casposo mine located on more that 100 ha of land owned by the Company and there is significant potential for expansion of the resource through brownfield resource drilling in open areas.
